I-CHORA Conference Updates
|
January 8, 2008 - Post conference paper submission guidelines posted |
|
We invite I-CHORA 3 authors to
consider submitting a revised and extended version of their
conference paper for publication consideration. We plan a theme issue
or issues of the peer-reviewed journal Libraries
and the Cultural Record. Libraries
& the Cultural Record is devoted
exclusively to the broad history of collections of knowledge that
form the cultural record. Its articles explore the significance of
those collections in libraries, archives, and museums in the context
of cultural and social history, unlimited as to time and place. I-CHORA 3 Post conference Paper Submission Guidelines

August 27, 2007 - Post Conference publication of expanded and revised I-CHORA 3 papers |
Following the success of the Third International Conference on the History of Records and Archives (I-CHORA)
in September 2007, we are now accepting submissions for the forthcoming
peer-reviewed, post-conference publication on personal papers and
archives which will appear in a forthcoming issue or issues of Libraries and the Cultural Record in 2008. The I-CHORA 3 organizing committee of Barbara L. Craig, Philip B. Eppard, Brenda Lawson, and Heather MacNeil
will serve as the general editors for the issue and will prepare an
introductory essay on the I-CHORA 3 conference and its
themes. The themes of the publication will be consistent with
that of the conference but are not limited to the following areas:
- the forms of personal records
- the motivations for making and keeping personal records
- the collecting of personal records by individuals and archival repositories
- cross-disciplinary perspectives on personal records
- needs for research in the area of personal records
All submissions of scholarly research on the above themes are welcome.
All submissions will be refereed. No substantial editorial changes will
be made without the permission of the author. The deadline to
submit papers for the forthcoming peer-reviewed, post-conference
publication on the history of records, record-keeping and archives is Friday, January 18, 2008. Please review our submission guidelines for full details on how to prepare and submit your paper. |

March 19, 2006 - I-CHORA 3 Call for Papers - deadline extended to May 19th
|
The Third International Conference on the History of Records and Archives (I-CHORA 3) will be held in Boston, Massachusetts on September 27-29, 2007, hosted by the Massachusetts Historical Society. |
The theme of the conference will be the history of personal records and personal recordkeeping practices.
This theme is intended to cover the full range of personal
documents—including, for example, letters, diaries, journals, and
scrapbooks—both as document types and as parts of recordkeeping systems
that document personal life. We invite submissions of proposals for
papers that report on original research into a topic and theme that has
not been widely discussed in the archival literature, although there
are many scholars in literary studies, history and the arts who have
probed the personal and social functions and meaning of records made,
kept, and exchanged by people in their private and professional lives.
Papers may treat any time period and any national jurisdiction. Topics
might include, but are not limited to the following areas:
|
|
Please think about your work and how it may be shared with colleagues in the world of archives and beyond.
Proposals for papers should be no less than 500 words, double spaced, and in RTF format.
Proposals should be sent to i-chora@fis.utoronto.ca by 19 May 2006. We will advise acceptance by the middle of June 2006.
